The Universe Never Takes What’s Meant To Be Yours

Last year during our playoff travels, my friend Hope and I used the affirmation: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬. It's true. I've lived it several times over. I wanted to do something fun for this year's travels, so I had matching sweatsuits made for us.

See, when we set off on these adventures, we often fly to the location without game tickets and often without booking a hotel room in advance. A lot of people think we're crazy for doing this, and we may be, but we know: 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐬. And it does.

Here are a couple of beautiful synchronicities and magical moments from our escapades thus far; surely, there's more to come.

1. Last year, on our first leg, we booked our hotel in advance. We arrived, and they had oversold their rooms, so they put us in a paid car to a hotel down the street that was nicer and comped our entire stay.

2. Last year due to weather, our flight was delayed, and we missed our connection. The universe had already hooked up a First Class upgrade for me. When we landed in ATL, there was only one flight that would get us to MCI in time for the game. We were 14 & 15 on the standby list. It was a full flight. We made it and arrived by kickoff.

3. This year, Hope arranged a rental car through her work. We were hoping for a convertible Mustang to relive our glory days. Hope had a Mustang in high school, and we used to cruise it with the top down, bumping 2Pac on our way to tennis matches. When we arrived at the Enterprise counter, her reservation had been canceled, and because it was a holiday (MLK Day), we had some challenges rebooking. After we sorted them out, we were told we'd get a midsize sedan. When we walked to the garage, Kalil saw our sweatsuits, and we made our ask, the silver Mustang convertible. He didn't bat an eyelash and said. "It's yours.”

4. The night I arrived in Jacksonville, Florida solo, before bed, I asked the universe to show me that amazing men exist and there’s an abundant amount of them; I just need to open my eyes. The following day I woke up and thought I’d go to Starbucks. It was within walking distance of my hotel. Once I was up and moving, I decided I wanted something a little more hearty, so I quickly Googled breakfast near me. I found a restaurant only a few hundred feet from me and went there. There was an hour-long wait for a table. The hostess thought there was an empty seat at the bar. I went and found it and made friends with the two female servers working in that area. Shortly after my food arrived, the gentleman to my right got up and left. Soon after, a new gentleman asked if that seat was available. I said yes, and we chatted for the next two hours. The servers thought we’d known each other for years. The man is a motivational speaker and author, a family man who’s not on dating apps and trusting in the universe to connect him with the right person. He chose “now,” as in, now is the time, for his word for 2023. When we left, the servers begged us to return the following day and update them on our connection. The whole bar area was cheering us on. The man picked up the check and walked me back to my hotel. We kept in touch and even met up with him after the Chargers game, where he grabbed the tab for Hope and me. I asked, and the universe delivered.

5. I was gifted a ticket to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Dallas Cowboys game. We sat in Club Seats.

This type of magic is available to everyone who believes, which is why I am passionate about sharing my experiences. These moments exist all the time. We just have to be open to receiving them.
