Have you ever met a couple and thought, wow, they're the perfect match? I went into my conversation with Simone Milasas and Brendon Watt, knowing they had made a conscious decision to break up. Still, somehow in knowing them all of sixty minutes, I found myself rooting for them to get back together. Now, that's not fair to them, and after hearing their story, I understand that things were no longer working in their partnership. I learned from Simone and Brendon that friendship can exist, like true friendship, well beyond a breakup.
Their story is an important one to hear because of their approach to a relationship. Simone and Brendon made a conscious decision daily to be in their relationship. Each morning they'd asked themselves, "Is this what we desire today? If the answer was yes, the next question they asked was, "What can we create together?" They habitually followed their routine for eight years until one morning, the answer was no.
Now Simone and Brendon maintain a healthy friendship and working relationship. They put their knowledge and experience on paper as co-authors of Relationship. Are you sure you want one?
Check out the podcast chat I had with them to learn more about the five elements of intimacy. Their advice, to communicate with your partner, say what you mean and mean what you say, and avoid playing games. Brendon and Simone believe this is also the most effective way to approach dating. Single men and women need to ditch the fairytale in their heads and focus on the relationship they want to create.
