Virtual Speed Dating
Suborno Ghosh, host of Online Dating Laid Bear, Jess Barndt, Dating Coach at Greater Dater, and I participated in a virtual speed dating event. The night (well, morning for Suborno, who set his alarm for 3 AM London time) went like this. Each date was seven minutes. You had a thirty-second break between dates. If there was someone you fancy at the end, you could indicate to the company hosting that you were interested, and they'd provide your email address to the person for you to carry on the relationship from there.
Check out this debrief we did on Suborno's show Online Dating Laid Bear. I found this extra amusing because, essentially, Jess and I dated the same men. I was curious to find out her take on the men, whether or not she matched with any of the guys, and see if she got stood up like I did. Yes, there was a seven-minute period where it said, "(insert male name) will be entering the room shortly..." He never made it.
Here were my six dates in a nutshell:
Guy who laughed uncontrollably even when I wasn't being funny.
Guy who no-showed.
Suborno! The best and quickest seven minutes of the evening.
Guy, who has never had a girlfriend, lives at home and is scared of women.
Guy who wants a cuddle buddy.
Guy, who has a vocabulary consisting of one word, Mother F'er.
